Our privacy notice describes the categories of personal data we process and for what purposes.

We are committed to collecting and using such data fairly and in accordance with the requirements of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Your privacy rights

You have the right to object to how we use your personal information. You also have the right to see what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct inaccuracies, ask for some information to be provided to someone else and, where permitted by law, ask us to delete or restrict personal information we hold about you.

To exercise any of your rights, contact our DPO by post at Rx Pharmacy, 73a Lanark Road, Carstairs ML11 8QL or by e-mail on habib@pharmacy-rx.co.uk.

What kinds of personal information we use

We use a variety of personal information depending on the products and services we deliver to you. To provide most products and services we may need your name, address, date of birth, contact details, GP or surgery details, health information, medication information and NHS number.

How we gather your personal information

We gather personal information directly from you when you fill out consent forms, have prescriptions dispensed in one of our pharmacies, use digital services for dispensing prescriptions or provide information online. We may also receive information from NHS bodies such as your GP, surgery or hospital.

We may use CCTV on our premises to ensure the safety and security of staff and customers. CCTV footage may be shared with legal authorities where requested and in the interests of public safety.

How we use your personal information

We use your personal information to provide products and services, respond to queries, improve our service, contact you about prescriptions, protect customers, patients, staff and our business, and fulfil our contractual requirements with the NHS.

Our legal basis

We only use personal information where permitted by law, including where we have your consent, need to perform a task in the public interest, need to comply with legal obligations, need to perform a contract with you, or where it is fair to use the information in our interests or someone else’s interests without disadvantage to you.

Special categories of data

Extra care is given to sensitive personal information such as health status, medication, racial or ethnic origin, religious, political or similar beliefs and sex life or sexual orientation. We use this information only where required to deliver pharmacy and healthcare services, meet legal obligations, protect vital interests, support substantial public interest, where you have given explicit consent, or for anonymous NHS Scotland statistical analysis.

Sharing and third parties

We may share personal information with organisations where needed to make products and services available, contact you about appropriate products and services, meet or enforce legal obligations, or where it is fair and reasonable. This may include service providers such as couriers, manufacturers, suppliers, General Pharmaceutical Council inspectors and NHS Scotland.

We do not currently share your information with any parties outside the UK.

How long we keep your personal information

We keep personal information for as long as we have a legal or business reason to do so. Health-related personal information may need to be retained for a period after you cease to be a customer or patient so we can fulfil obligations to the NHS, regulatory or similar bodies.

Keeping you informed

We may communicate with you about prescriptions, changes to the pharmacy that may affect you and services we deliver using the contact preferences you have given to us. Where you have consented to marketing, you can update your preferences or withdraw consent by contacting our DPO.

Contact form and email

You may be contacted to provide feedback on how we managed your enquiry. Information is kept only as long as necessary to support the service we provide and, if no communication has been made in over 12 months and the information is not required to resolve an ongoing issue, it will be deleted.
